richmond surroundings PR revginger&me chez pavlinarI wrote this press release about a quirky French restaurant in Richmond and submitted it to The Richmond Surroundings magazine.  I attached the picture above with the release.  My lunchmate Ginger never did believe that I submitted the picture with both of us in it.

Newspaper Articles

yard sale RTDMy first published newspaper article was about a quirky yard sale.  I sent this article in cold to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.  My husband was the bearer of good news: “Hi, Miss Special Correspondent,” he said as he walked in the door that Saturday afternoon with a big grin on his face.
earthquake article richmond times dispatchI had moved from Richmond, Virginia to Los Angeles, California three weeks before the 1994 Northridge Earthquake.  The day after the quake (Tuesday) I called my editor in Richmond and asked if she’d be interested in a first-hand account from a Richmonder.  She said yes, but on spec.   So what a great surprise it was to see the full page article located on the backside of the front page of Sunday’s paper.

I enjoy going to estate sales even more than yard sales, so I suggested an anecdotal/how-to article to my editor.  She liked the idea and even sent a photographer to meet me at one of the sales.
